Our {new} coral and aqua interior!

Hi All! A few months ago I got an itch to finally tie together my two favorite colors, coral and aqua, on our main level. Here is the post I wrote with pictures of beautiful coral and aqua interiors that I found completely striking and inspiring. After a few months of keeping my eyes peeled and collecting fabric and treasures here and there, I wrote this post about how my color hunt was progressing.

I am so happy to tell you that the color hunt is done! Everything has been put in place and we are simply enjoying our new colorful space. The addition of such a vibrant color as coral has completely refreshed the space. I am absolutely positively loving it! We may have just had snow, but a new season has bloomed in our home. Take a look around :)

And that wallpaper I found at the thrift store has found itself a few nifty spots and purposes. I cut a few lengths and let it curl into itself, creating a perfect little container for these fabric flowers, (on clearance at JoAnn Fabrics)

If I decide to wallpaper the back of this bookcase, I will let you know. That was my original idea, but then it felt like a bit much. For the time being I really like having a few lengths rolled up and stacked one on top of the other. It's a little off-beat and visually interesting...my kind of decorating.

The peachy plates, also found at the thrift store, add the perfect snap of color above our teal buffet.

Again, the fabric flowers found on clearance at JoAnn Fabrics. There were two boxes left and I snatched up every last one! (so don't look for them at the JoAnns off rt. 7 in Sterling if you live in northern Virginia)

Coral pillows on the chairs were a Christmas gift from my husband. I picked them out from the Etsy shop, Festive Home Decor, which is my absolute favorite place for pillows. Not only does she have a great eye for beautiful fabric, but the quality of work is superb and the prices are more than reasonable.

The painting of Louis Wharf in Boston. Aside from having all the lovely colors I wanted to incorporate in this space, it's a dear reminder of a wonderful road trip my husband and I took up there several years ago.

Hot out of the garage - the Hipster table!

I had the idea to do a table like this a few months ago and just in the last couple weeks have had a chance to try it out! How fun are they!?! Criss-cross pieces are being used all over the place in design right now. Criss-cross dining chair back rests, criss-cross dining table legs, and criss-cross bench and accent table legs - like these! Can you believe these were once folding TV tray tables?

4 designer fabric table tops to choose from, 3 of which will be used twice, creating a few pairs. I see these being used as edgy bedside tables, living room side tables, a foyer table, porch table....where would you put one?

Nailhead trim completes the piece. It's the perfect punch of glam and sparkle!

Every table is painted in either Paris Grey or French Linen ASCP, 

then rubbed down with clear and dark wax for a perfectly aged finish.

Rustic hanging headboard - from a door!

Hi everyone! In case you missed it at the end of the last post, the next Chelsea's Garage sale is set for Saturday May 4! I am so, SO excited for this next sale. A little while ago I posted about how we turned this old door....

...into an awesome bench!

 

As you can see, there is a lot more door than what we used for the bench. So what happened to the leftovers? I fit them together like a puzzle, screwed each piece onto a leftover piece of pdf board, and a headboard was born! This was a custom order and the client requested a hanging headboard because of the unique space that her bed is in. Using a couple hooks and chain, she can hang this piece straight from her ceiling at the spot where a headboard would usually be behind her bed! I'll definitely ask her to send pictures of this in her room so we can all see. Such a cool idea!

Here it is from behind so you can see how it was put together. We just used a leftover piece of 1/2" pdf board to attach the pieces of the door to make it all one piece. Then screw your hooks onto the side that you want to be the top. Make sure you measure the space from your ceiling to your bed, then subtract the height of your headboard so you know exactly how much chain to get. The chain and hooks came from Home Depot all for around $12. If you have the wood, it is a great way to get a one of a kind headboard for hardly any dough!

And in case you're in need of a little pick-me-up, here is my daily dose first thing in the morning. This little bouquet arranged in the vintage aqua Ball mason jar from my husbands grandma, (posted last week), is the first thing my, (groggy), eyes fall on when I come downstairs in the morning. The time change has been kicking my butt in the mornings, (yet somehow the kids are waking up at the same time as usual). 

Very thankful for this simple perk. 

Fresh flowers are so calming; such a treat for the eyes and the soul.

What an artist our heavenly Father is.
